Today we introduced our new History focus - World War Two. Pupils took part in a multi-sensory introduction to the war, beginning with a discussion on what war is and its causes, pupils showed great maturity. They then explored childhood in the 1930 s through tactile chalk writing and an active hopscotch game, before experiencing a blackout, listening to an air raid siren and using the Zones of Regulation to reflect on emotions during the Blitz. Pupils the packed a teddy and examined an evacuee label, demonstrating lots of empathy when discussing how children must have felt and finally “boarded” a steam train to safety.
